SS Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich Died 73 years ago on June 4th 1942, the only Senior Leader assassinated in the whole of WW2

June 4th 1942, 73 years ago is the day that Reichsprotektor of Prague, Reinhard Heydrich died from blood poisoning from his wounds, after an amateur assassination attempt by Czech Soldiers, recruited and trained for 6 months by the British SOE, at the same cost of training a whole battalion of Soldiers.

Did the Czech Doctors fail to administer anti blood poisoning drugs? His wounds were not life threatening. If Hitler's Doctors had arrived sooner, would he have lived? Questions we may never be able to answer.

There had been an agreement on all sides not to assassinate any of the leading Officers on either side, because of the pre agreed reprisals, but this operation went ahead and the Czech people paid the price for it.

Was it a suicide mission by the British Government? Was it because he got the Czech factories working to make armaments for Hitler? Was it because he brought in Welfare Benefits for the Czechs and increased their wages and meat rations? Was it because  the Czechs were out of range of Bombing raids and so not at risk therefore needed no resistance? Was Benes afraid of not being returned as President? Was Curda carrying out orders or was he a traitor?

All this is in my book Reinhard Heydrich Iron Heart, on Amazon now.

So for now,
You decide....
